There will always be dark days, where our problems seem insurmountable or every day feels like we are navigating an obstacle course.
Sometimes, resolutions or positive progress happen quickly. Other times it seems our only choice is to keep plodding forward with faith, patience, and Baskin Robbins.
With my coaching, if we cannot eradicate the difficulties immediately, we can certainly ease them, making your journey more bearable.
There’s no “one size fits all” advice for depression, because each of us have a unique root cause for it. Certainly, there are some very important guiding principles that apply to most people who are presently suffering, so I take that into consideration when I create your personal game plan. These are simple strategies that prop you up like the foundation of a house to support you, get you stable, and get your momentum going in the right direction.
I'm sure you have heard all the usual advice about treating your depression and anxiety – eat nutritionally, get lots of sleep, exercise regularly, breath fresh air, and soak in the sunshine. You know to connect with friends, write in your journal, express your feelings, let go, forgive, and don’t sweat the small stuff. You’ve surrounded yourself by people who inspire you, practiced positive thinking, and taken on ‘Just do It’ as your life’s motto. It works for a little while and… you are right back where you started. You feel like that hamster on the wheel.
I'm sure you have tried counseling. Possibly you had the opportunity to explore your anxiety and your depression – as if it were something 'outside' of you, that you have no power or control over. You believe that if you understand why it’s happening ‘to you’, then you will transform into a better you – and live happily ever after, anxiety and depression free.
It doesn’t work, and here’s why…
Sure, it feels like a relief to finally know why it’s happening to you, and our ego is interested in seeing what makes us tick. I myself, find self-awareness fascinating, mysterious, and addictive! But, in relation to the bigger picture called your ‘day to day life’, who needs a deeper understanding of a pattern that is no longer of benefit to you? You have perfected the pattern and yielded the same results over, and over again. You need an exit strategy; not a deeper understanding.
It’s a trap, and now you know it’s a trap. And you still don’t know how to get out of it. You are still stuck.
If you feel frustrated, inadequate, stressed, fearful, have low self-esteem, or high self-criticism, you are not alone, and could gain immense benefit from my coaching.
